Set sail on Pacifica – Rainbow’s End’s Pirate Ship is back!

All aboard! The Pirate Ship has officially returned to Rainbow’s End, and Pacifica is now swinging into action for guests of all ages to enjoy.

A much-loved icon for nearly 40 years, the original Pirate Ship was farewelled in 2017 due to the limited availability of replacement parts. Since then, Kiwi fans never stopped asking for its return — and after years of planning, design and construction, a brand-new Pirate Ship has proudly taken its place in the park.

Built by world-renowned German manufacturer HUSS, Pacifica has been designed to the highest modern safety standards, with upgraded theming and enhanced guest comfort, while still delivering all the soaring, stomach-dropping fun that made the original ride such a favourite.

The return of the Pirate Ship also brings its story to life like never before. From immersive theming to the transformation of the original figurehead, Captain Esmeralda, into a living character, Pacifica is more than just a ride — it’s a swashbuckling adventure. Guests can enjoy new storytelling elements, including a sea shanty and a children’s book inspired by the ship’s journey.

On weekends, keep an eye out for Captain Esmeralda in the park, where she comes ashore to meet guests, share pirate tales and add an extra touch of magic to the Pacifica experience.
