Ride Safety and Maintenance at Rainbow’s End
We are deeply saddened by the recent incident at an amusement park in Saudi Arabia, where a ride malfunction resulted in injuries.
We know that seeing events like this can be unsettling, and we understand how important it is for our guests to feel confident in the safety of the rides and experiences we offer. To provide that reassurance, we want to share the safety protocols and maintenance practices we follow at Rainbow’s End to ensure the highest standards are met every day.
Ensuring Confidence in Our Safety Practices
At Rainbow’s End, safety is our number one priority. We work exclusively with long-standing, reputable ride designers and manufacturers to ensure we offer the safest rides possible. Every attraction is installed to the highest standards and independently assessed by governing bodies to verify compliance with or exceedance of safety requirements.
Ongoing Maintenance and Independent Testing
Our maintenance programme is one of the most comprehensive in the industry. We conduct daily, weekly, monthly, and annual inspections and audits across all rides, including testing of structures and steel to ensure they can withstand operational forces.
We also invest actively in long-term ride upkeep—such as the recent full replacement of all arms on the Powersurge ride—to keep our attractions in top condition.
We don’t just maintain rides; we regularly test and validate them through third-party experts. This ensures all ride components meet strict quality and safety standards. Our maintenance procedures are fully documented and supported by independent audits.
In addition, each attraction undergoes extensive “birthday maintenance” annually to help ensure it remains in peak condition for the year ahead.

The pirate Ship returns SPRING 2025!
We're thrilled to announce that in Spring 2025, we will bring back a beloved classic to the park - The Pirate Ship!
The original Pirate Ship was a guest favourite for almost 40 years and decommissioned in 2017 due to the limited availability of replacement parts. But we have listened to repeated requests from Kiwis asking for it to return, and a new and improved Pirate Ship will be ready to set sail in Spring 2025.
UPCOMING RIDE MAINTENANCE
To keep our rides in tip top shape, all attractions go through a thorough an annual review and service. This is separate to our daily and weekly checks and maintenance procedures, so can take a little longer.
